Megan Donovan, Artistic Director

In March of 2010, Megan Co-founded and was made Artistic Director of the Playground Theatre Project. Her immediate goal as Artistic Director was to build and empower a community of young actors to create the art that they felt would most address the issues faced by them and their peers.

In the following 7 years, Megan is proud to say that this dream has become a reality. PTP now boasts the youngest theater company in the world: The Mini Misfits which is a collection of socially conscious actors ages 7 to 12 who travel the tristate area performing an original anti-bullying play written and directed by PTP Company Director Ralph Colombino called The Gaggle.

The company was honored to be selected for the 2013 and 2014 FringeNYC: The New York International Fringe Festival. The 2014 selection Lady Parts was work-shopped and written by Literary Manager Becky Ellis and the Women of PTP and was conceived and directed by Ms. Donovoan. The show presents the historical perspective of issues faced by women; intertwined with the current problems and inequality that women face in our modern society.

For over a decade, Megan was also the Assistant Artistic Director of Actors Playground School of Theatre, a progressive school of theater that educates young actors in advanced acting techniques and prepares them as the young professionals they are.

From 2007 until the formation of PTP in 2010, Megan was the Managing Director of the New Mystics Theatre Company. She has taught for acting institutions all over New Jersey including the Count Basie Theater, The Algonquin Arts Theatre and the Arts and Education Center of New Jersey. Megan is also a member of the Local Artist Network at Two River Theatre Company, an equity theatre in Red Bank, NJ.
